I'm thinking about the possibility of making some money by offering my skills as a proofreader to fellow students, but I am wondering whether or not this is a good idea. Or if this is even allowed. I'm curious to know what you people think. Ethical/unethical? I know some teachers, especially english teachers would be against the idea, but what if I required an email stating permission from the teacher in such cases? Or maybe for all academic work? I know quite a few teachers want students to get their papers proofread.

Senator,
please allow me to congratulate you on the resounding success of you campaign - you've won the fight, all but secured your nomination, and made history doing so! And as such, please forgive me for pouring water over your momentum-heated coals. See, you've won the fight, but you're losing the battle.
I don't need to tell you that democracy means "power of the people". So why do you think it is that virtually every time you've battled in a real primary (as opposed to a somewhat more elitist caucus ;), you've lost? Could it be because you believe the more conservative end of your own party consists of "bitter people clinging to their guns and God?". There's no shame in thinking that - morally, I'm way to the left of what you've made your platform, and I agree. I'm also acutely aware that the other half of the country is even more conservative than that, and so I'm not trying to become their president. Of course, you're far better informed about the lifestyles of your potential electorate. ;)
You certainly know, for example, that a lot of them are very interested in your former pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Some question his influence on you; I rather question your judgment of character. The man has been your spiritual mentor for years; his ideas must have been taking shape over time - you don't become a neo-Black Panther all of a sudden. Yet you're telling us you learnt of it all not any sooner than we did. That means you're either a hypocrite who completely tunes out what goes on in his own church, or you can't tell someone's ideas stink until they're farting you in the face on national prime time. I don't know which makes me less apt to put you in a job where a key skill is being able to pick your crew well.
And then there's your race. In a country where a white person saying black people are black gets mis-labeled as a racist, no public white dares call it by proper name when a black candidate is finally making real black history by getting damn close to a presidential nomination. Consequently, your remarkable 14% win in North Carolina had nothing to do with a large black electorate coming out to support one of their own (as well they should have). But let's make it clear - what's propelled you so far is that you are half-black, a half-decent public speaker, and that we haven't yet known you long enough to know any better. You're also sufficiently black and sufficiently off-Muslim for a sufficiently large minority of the electorate to make it very probable that come Nov, you will lose.
Yes, I'm fully aware that you are part white and not at all Muslim, but then I'm not part of the above minority. I'm familiar enough with prejudice and public speeches to judge my candidates, as best I can, on substance. Hillary Clinton is far from an ideal of any kind, but her black patches mostly came from getting things done, and getting knocked down trying to do yet more. What's on your political resume - being a rising young star, audacious and full of hope, with zero experience fighting the "vast right-wing conspiracy", and wobbling character judgment to boot?
Lest the above convinced you otherwise, I'm quite happy you're winning your fight. America is changing, and you're a living example of it. Yet the Constitution stands, as does the electoral college, and so the presidency is won or lost in places that are you true Achilles Heels - places like West Virginia, Ohio and Florida (whom you won't even fight to get represented at your own party's convention).
You can claim it's unfair, but caucuses have got you where you are. You may accuse Senator Clinton of being self-serving, but her self-interest (which just may be more enlightened than people give her credit for) is also the best interest of your mutual Party. Sure, there's no doubt you can become presidential nominee - it's just that she can actually become president. Now, as a campaigner for Change, kindly weigh your own self-interest (and/or any other interest you believe you may be serving) against those of your Party and your country, and tell us - which is it gonna be? |

Would you let a criminal into your home if he asked?
Would you leave your valuables in plain sight around a criminal?
Would you leave your car unlocked around a criminal?
Would you hand your ID to a criminal?
Would you try to get in an argument with a criminal?
Would you consent to having your home or vehicle searched by a criminal?
Would you consent to a personal search of your body by a criminal?
Would you answer any questions from a criminal?
Of course not.
Same goes for cops. If you don't start using your rights, you will lose them. |

Простым языком наглядно объясняет почему Тюринг вместе со своим тестом и машиной заодно, так же как и все исследования в neural networks, не имеют ничего общего и не приближают нас к созданию интеллекта так как все основаны на ошибочной модели. Джефф в принципе против термина "искусственный интеллект", его цель в жизни это создать "настоящий интеллект". Советую.

| Как найти лаптоп? |

Кто знает как выйти из такой ситуации?
Знакомые прилетели из Киева на тур по США (без тур агенства). В Лас Вегасе в MGM Grant они сдали 4 багажа, включая лаптоп, а получили когда выезжали из отеля 3 багажа, без лаптопа.
Клерк сказал что он незнает куда делася лаптоп, что когда он нёс багаж на хранение лаптоп где-то пропал. Они заполнили claim в отеле и клерк подписал бумагу с этим заявлением.
Они пошли в полицию, где заполнили police report. Там им сказали что это бывает часто, и..ничего не сделали.
У ребят сложилось впечателние что там явно работает мафия и лаптоп украли рабочие отеля.
Вопрос: как с этим можно боротся? (учитывая что ребята живут в Киеве). |

Давно не получал такого удовольствия от концерта. Звук понравился даже больше чем в Слимс, во всяком случае я хорошо слышал все инструменты, а не только отголоски ударных и ритм гитары от всех стен. Жаль не взял с собой фотоаппарата, были пару хороших кадров которые стоило бы запечатлеть:
1. Билборд клуба на котором красуются рядом надписи Ensiferum/Turisas и Дискотека Новое Радио.
2. Вывеска при входе - поверх обычно висяшего там "proper attire required" висела просьба не проносить с собой шипы, viking horns, мечи и другую подобную атрибутику. (Стыдно признаться, но я там был чуть ли не единственный не в черной футболке).
3. Солист Турисас, весь в коже/мехах и черно/красной боевой окраске поющий Rasputin раскручивая при этом над мошпитом зеркальный диско шар.
А потом пришел лесник пришли Ensiferum и наглядно показали, почему именно они являются хедлайнерами фестиваля. Меня уж так точно порвало в клочья.

| T-mobile Prepaid Plan |

Хотелось бы подключится к T-mobile, но не могу решить на какой план подписаться.
У меня есть телефон от T-mobile, но ввиду сложившихся причин, я им пользовалась всего пару месяцев. После этого переключилась в другую сеть, года полтора назад.
Телефоном в этой сети буду пользоваться только я, и звонить буду в основном внутри сети, так что много дополнительных минут не нужно. Рассмотрела варианты - думаю подключится либо к Individual 300, либо к Prepaid Plan.
Prepaid, как я понимаю, не несет обязанности подписывать контракт на 1-2 года. Так, что склоняюсь к нему больше.
Если кто-то пользуется этим планом, пожалуйста, расскажите о плюсах и минусах. Нет ли там какого-то подвоха:) |
